Make a seasonal home checklist
A practical framework for reviewing your home, with editable tasks rather than a universal safety schedule.
Start with what changes in your home
Weather, equipment and local conditions vary. Review drainage, heating arrangements, ventilation and outdoor areas when the season changes. Use this as a planning prompt, not a universal compliance or safety checklist.
Keep the work manageable
Add a small number of specific tasks. “Review the boiler service paperwork” is easier to act on than “Sort out heating”. Attach each task to an item where possible and include the relevant manual or professional contact.
Check from a safe position
Ground-level observations can identify visible damage or a need for professional inspection. Do not use a checklist as permission to climb, disturb materials or work on electrical or gas installations.
Review costs and next actions
Record completed work and follow-up dates. Use spending summaries to review recorded repairs and maintenance separately from new purchases; missing records mean the summary is not a complete household budget.
